Alan Koppel Gallery
806 North Dearborn Street, Chicago, IL 60610

December 5, 2018 to January 25, 2019

AUTHOR presents an editioned, select body of work celebrating the vitality and diversity of literary luminaries in our society.  Working in the fields of drama, fiction, memoir, nonfiction, and poetry, these artists of letters are among the many making significant contributions to history and culture through the stories they tell.

AUTHOR is the companion exhibition to Author: The Portraits of Beowulf Sheehan, a monograph capturing the essence of 200 writers, historians, journalists, playwrights, and poets from 35 countries, from Roxane Gay to Masha Gessen, Patti Smith to Zadie Smith, Karl Ove Knausgaard to J.K. Rowling, and Jonathan Franzen to Toni Morrison, published by Black Dog & Leventhal/Hachette Book Group October 9, 2018.

Partial proceeds from both print and book sales will benefit BookUp, a program of the National Book Foundation to inspire reading by students in underserved communities across the country.  Reading isn't just fundamental.  It is a vital gateway to a successful life.
